On March 2nd, our Kindergarten Class celebrated the birthday of the much-loved author, Dr. Suess. Many guest readers visited the class and shared their love of Dr. Suess’ literary creations, including our Headmaster, Dr. Mark Newcomb, who wore his special “suess” spectacles!

We are all very proud of their accomplishments and their excellent sportsmanship throughout the season. A very special thank-you to our Athletic Coordinator, Augustine Nwoko, who led the team with grace and professionalism.
Each year, the University of Saint Thomas in Houston holds an essay contest in Theology for students in area elementary and high schools. This spring, Saint Theresa Catholic School had 8 students who were among the semi-finalists in the contest. Two of our students, Isa Corridore and David Trinh, Jr., earned Honorable Mention recognition. Two other STCS students were also recognized: Joseph Corridore earned 2nd place among all 4th Grade students across the Archdiocese, and Lucille Newcomb earned 3rd place among all 8th Grade students across the Archdiocese. Congratulations to all participants!
The National Latin Examination Committee wrote recently to the faculty and administration of Saint Theresa Catholic School to indicate that out of our 50 students who sat for the examination, 31 earned distinctions. In addition, the Committee also made us aware that two students among our 6th Graders, Anastasia Dementyev and Aurelia Newcomb, earned perfect scores on the Introduction to Latin Examination. This is a test ordinarily administered to 9th Grade students. Only 442 out of more than 22,000 who sat for the test earned a perfect score. The odds that STCS would have two students earn this distinction is infinitesimally small, and a great testament to how well they have been taught by the amazing Dr. Catherine Bilow! In addition to 31 certificates and 7 ribbons overall, STCS 7th and 8th Grade students earned a total of nine medals, 4 silver and 6 gold.
