Mrs. Barbara Curtis is a native Houstonian, a life-long Catholic, and for the last 20 years has resided in Sugar Land. She attended Houston’s St. Anne Catholic School and Mirabeau B. Lamar High School. Mrs. Curtis graduated summa cum laude from Metro State University of Denver with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
Moving to Sugar Land in 2001, she substitute taught at St. Laurence Catholic School for two years: one semester teaching 8th grade literature and a semester teaching music to 4th grade. Because she had danced for 40 years in classical ballet and taught dance, she was surprised to find how much she enjoyed teaching academics as well. Mrs. Curtis has substitute taught for Fort Bend ISD and Lamar CISD including two years as a full-time substitute in two elementary schools. She has also substituted for Saint Theresa Catholic School and enjoyed working in this year’s exciting month-long Summer Camp.
Mrs. Curtis is extremely honored by the opportunity to join Saint Theresa Catholic School’s distinguished and passionate group of Catholic educators and engaged students. She states, “Just being in this school, within the inspiring atmosphere of our magnificent Catholic faith, coupled with academics and engaged students, is an elevating experience.”
