I grew up in a small town on the west coast of the island of Puerto Rico, and I am an absolute beach lover! I am a native Spanish speaker but spent many years studying French and Italian. I went to the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I spent several years teaching in a bilingual kindergarten outside Iowa City where I also assisted in the development of a dual-language program at the elementary school level. During that time, I married my high school prom date, and we have been together for over 25 years. We have 3 sons and have been living snow-free in Texas for over 16 years.
I enjoy going to baseball games and concerts, photography, traveling with my family, not cooking, and being at the beach. During the fall, you will probably find me sporting black and gold and cheering for my beloved Iowa Hawkeyes.
I have been at Saint Theresa Catholic School since 2014 when became the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher. Since beginning here, I have become a certified catechist and was recognized in 2019 as an Archdiocesan Catholic Exemplary Teacher (ACET).
I always knew I wanted to become a teacher, especially once I figured out I was too short to fulfill a childhood dream of being a Radio City Rockette. Teaching little ones has been my passion, and I love that I get to do it in a Catholic setting. Every year I am astounded by how much the students at Saint Theresa Catholic School grow and learn by reciting poetry, learning prayers, singing hymns, and listening to fables and Aesop stories. I am proud to be a part of a school that values manners, respect, virtue, and growing in mind and spirit. I find great joy in teaching the children life-long skills such as geography and writing concepts. Most importantly, I find great joy in teaching them to be true images of God.
