As part of the process for completing your Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) applications, families whose children have a current Catholic accommodation plan may wish to request formal diagnostic testing through Fort Bend ISD to obtain an official Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
The new Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program prioritizes funding for children with special needs. To be eligible for these funds, a child must complete an evaluation and have an IEP in place before the TEFA application deadline. Under State Education Code Sec. 29.3615, public school districts are required to provide an IEP for any student seeking TEFA funding and must complete the process in time for the student to apply. Having this formal IEP on file may also help your family qualify for additional TEFA funding based on your child’s identified learning needs.
Fort Bend ISD has provided the following information on how to begin this process:
- Parents should call the Fort Bend ISD Intake Line at 281-634-1351 to request testing for their child.
- Once the request is made, the district will send a Private School Packet to complete and return.
- Additional testing or evaluation documents you may already have (from private testing or previous evaluations) will be helpful to include.
