Mrs. Rice
My name is Francesca Rice. After earning my degree in elementary education from The University of Dallas in 1989, I had a choice to make. I could have taken a job at the local public school where I completed my student teaching, or follow my roommate to the Catholic school where she already had a job. Well, after fourteen years of teaching experience within Catholic schools, I think you know the choice I made. It was the best choice for me. Teaching in Catholic schools has helped me to realize that teaching is not just a job, it is my calling-my vocation –my charism.
St. Theresa Catholic School provides an atmosphere that strengthens my vocation through Classical Catholic Education. In our school, students are exposed to new ways of thinking that give them tools for life to look at the secular world with caution. These tools are developed throughout the whole curriculum. They give students a distraction from the secular world so that they can be closer to finding the true, the good and the beautiful. Such “distractions” include: Latin, Ancient History, poetry, oration, narration, music, strong language arts and math, and quality religious instruction.
The daily academics strengthen and nurture each child’s ability to grow in their faith and be models of Christ. I am thankful that I listened to my roommate, and I am blessed to be part of St. Theresa Catholic School.
