A Classical Catholic School

Music

Mr. Turner, our New Music Director at STCS, began his initial musical studies in piano performance at the University of Kansas. He went on to complete a Master of Organ Performance at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Mr. Turner comes to Saint Theresa School from Saint Peter Catholic Church in Omaha. While at St. Peter’s, he continued to grow and develop a fledgling Schola Cantorum at the parish. During his tenure he doubled enrollment, increased rehearsal time, and developed several concert opportunities for the children who participated in the program (ages 7 – 18). In this capacity, he collaborated with local music professionals to accompany the highly accomplished teen treble choir in a regular concert series, established a yearly Lessons and Carols for the younger choral groups, and expanded the repertoire of all of the schola choirs. He also maintained a substantial piano studio offering lessons to students ranging from beginner to highly advanced. Mr. Turner has also maintained an active concert career within and around the Omaha region, collaborating with other local artists (vocalists and instrumentalists), directing opera projects, and performing solo concerts. He is married to Lauren, his accomplished wife, who is a talented and highly trained opera singer. The Turners have four children and a new arrival on the way, and are thrilled to be a part of the STCS Community. Mr. Tuner looks very forward to developing and advancing Saint Theresa’s impressive choral program.
